Honda Activa- New Units Rolled Out From New Facility

Honda motors has rolled out the first of lot its popular scooter Activa from the newly constructed Narsapura manufacturing plant. The new manufacturing facility has enabled the Japanese bike brand to assemble, manufacture and conduct tests on all its products here locally and it has hugely added in increased productions. Honda Activa is one brand which revived the fortune for scooters in India. The right mix of style and power, it still boasts of occupying the largest volume of the scooter segment and it is available in two variants which differ only in displacement that the engine contains and decides the core power. It is available in a variety of colour choices. Honda Activa features an 109 cc petrol engine with automatic transmission ably producing a sufficient power for pleasurable driving through the city streets.





Honda Activa price range starts form INR. 45,000 to 48,000. The OHC single-cylinder, air-cooled engine produce an 8 bhp of raw power when at 7500 rpm along with a sufficient torque. The mileage it offers, is truly fantastic and sheer comfort while driving has made it a hot favourite of girls and women, though it is equally loved by the male community as well. The tough rigid body carved out from high strength flexible good quality fibre imparts a light weight and offers better finish. Honda Activa and Suzuki Access are in Same Price range

The Indian bike segment is splendid with the launch of new stylish scooter from the top leading two wheeler manufacturers. Recently, the top leading scoter manufacturing companies, Honda and Suzuki has launched their refreshed version scooters named Suzuki Access and Honda Activa. The Honda Activa is one of the highest selling scooter in the country. The Suzuki Access 125 cc is also best in the class and getting great response for its innovative design and new features. Both the two wheelers are powered by 4 stroke, single cylinder, air cooled OHC engine. But, the two most popular scooters will differ in terms of their displacement capacity, the Honda Activa offers 109 cc, and the Suzuki Access 125 boasts a higher displacement of 124 cc. Both the bikes are prices are approximate, the Honda Activa price is to be Rs.41,097 while the Suzuki bikes will always place the Suzuki bikes price competetively and the Suzuki Access price is to Rs. 42,850.

Measuring with the dimensions of 1765 x 710 x 1147 mm and ground clearance is about 145 mm looks stylish and comfortable to ride. The Suzuki Access is loaded with dimensions of 1780 x 650 x 1125 mm along with ground clearance of 160 mm. The stylish Suzuki Access comes in six exciting includes Pearl Mirage White, Candy Antares Red, Pearl Nebular Black, Metallic Sonic Silver, Metallic Flint Grey and Pearl Lilac Purple. Whereas the Honda bikes makes the Honda Activa eye catching with different color shades like metallic, black, candid lucid red, force silver metallic, pearl sunbeam white and geny grey metallic.

The Honda Activa comes with a powerful 109cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder, air cooled, OHC power mill engine which is capable to develop a peak power of 8bhp at 7500 rpm and also generates a torque of 9Nm at 5500rpm. While, the Suzuki Access is packed with a very powerful 4 stroke engine with single cylinder and OHC valve configuration for lower friction and clear emission. The scooter is also enabled with a displacement of 125cc which delivers an impressive power of 6.4 Kw at 7000 rpm and belts out a maximum torque of 9.8 Nm at 5000 rpm. The powerful engine of the Suzuki access is capable to offers a zipper acceleration of 0 to 60 km in just a span of 6.56 seconds. While talking on the acceleration on the gearless scooter Honda Activa, it takes 10.2 seconds to touch 0-60kmph. The Honda bikes also state that Activa delivers a mileage of around 42 kmpl in cities and around 50 kmpl in open highways. The fuel tank of the scooter is 5.3 litres which is increased to 6 litres in the deluxe variant. The Suzuki bikes cliams that the Suzuki Access is capable to deliver a higer mileage of 55 kmpl. Piaggio Vespa vs Honda Activa – What Would You Prefer?

At the 11th Indian Auto Expo, Piaggio India launched its stylish scooter Piaggio Vespa LX 125, which promises to target the young generation. Honda bikes are basically known for their family two-wheelers suitable for all generations. Be it a college going student or an old man, everybody can drive these with ease and comfort. The stylish scooter comes with a 4 stroke 125cc automatic transmission engine, which produces 10.06 PS power and 10.6 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the new version of Honda Activa is charged with 109cc engine that produces max power of 7 BHP at 7500 rpm. The fuel efficiency of Piaggio Vespa is 45kmpl as compared to Honda Activa, which seems to be doing well with a fuel efficiency of 52.2kmpl.









When talking about the appearance of both the two-wheelers, it can be said that both the scooters are best in their body and design. Piaggio Vespa LX 125 comes with retro styling headlights, which give a tempting look. The new Honda Activa comes with some major changes, for example, the front of the machine is revamped and upgraded with new skin, which gives it a sporty and classy look. Honda Activa comes with the same suspension system that is found in the New Honda Activa, whereas Piaggio Vespa comes equipped with a latest suspension system, which provides comfort, stability and full control even while riding it in the rough areas.The price of both the two-wheelers is perhaps the major point of difference. For example, Piaggio is known for its lifestyle scooter, which has a price tag of Rs 66,661, whereas Honda Activa is priced around Rs. 40,000.  To conclude, there is a huge difference between the prices of both the scooters. Piaggio Vespa LX vs Honda Activa, May The Best One Win

Piaggio India and Honda both are recognized for producing quality vehicles. Piaggio is an Italian based company and Honda is Japanese based firm. Piaggio has recently returned to India with its Piaggio Vespa LX 125 which was launched on 26 April, 2012. Piaggio entered the Indian market way back in 1980’s. If we flip back into the past, initially this company partnered with Bajaj Company, but this partnership did not long last as a result this Piaggio partnered with another Indian two wheeler manufacturing company LML. Now this Italian brand is again in India, but this time with a difference, Piaggio has entered Indian market on its own without partnering without any local partnership. They have also set up their own facility center at Baramati, which is located in state of Maharashtra. This new variant from Piaggio could give good competition to Japanese two wheeler manufacturers like Honda.





Honda has cemented itself in gearless scooter in India. Honda has been producing top of the line gearless scooters in India, which include Honda Activa, Honda Dio, and Honda Aviator. Honda not only rules the gearless scooter segment in India but also Honda bikes are also doing good business in the bike segment.  Honda Activa is fitted with 102 cc engine. On the other hand if compare with Japanese two wheeler with Italian brand Piaggio Vespa, the Italian brand has a higher engine displacement, Honda Activa is more fuel efficient than Piaggio Vespa LX. Both these vehicles are fitted with Alloy wheels and Piaggio Vespa has a greater wheel base than Honda Activa. Piaggio Vespa is fitted with 8 liter fuel tank capacity and Honda Activa has 6 liter fuel tank capacity, and the Italian brand has greater ground clearance in comparison to Honda Activa. Piaggio has entered in the lifestyle premium brand segment and is hoping to make Scooters a symbol of luxury once again. Though too soon to comment but it looking at the past, the Hondas and Bajajs of India might actually have to be on an alert and ready for a defensive response if the need be.
