Bajaj Discover Enters the Indian Market with Its 10th Variant

Bajaj, India’s domestic two-wheeler manufacturer has announced that it will be rolling out six new variants of its commuter segment bike, Bajaj Discover. Whether these new variants are additions to the current variants or their replacements is not acknowledged but if they do add to the current ones, Discover will be the only bike to handle more than 10 variants on its own. Bajaj bikes are already very popular among the people of India but with the launch of new variants in this series, Bajaj will increase its market share in heaps. The current variants giving the Company a good response under the name Discover are Discover 125ST, Discover 150, Discover 150, Discover 100T, Discover 100 4G and Discover 125. The Company recently launched Discover 125ST, which is the most advanced bike in its segment. The power output of this bike, while having an engine with 125cc, is almost equal to its other model which has a bigger engine of 150cc. The appearance of this new addition is totally refreshing and is much better than the old variants of this motorcycle.

This new model of Bajaj Discover features a 124.6 cc, 4-valve twin spark, air-cooled, mono-cylinder engine. The mill is so powerful that it can crank out the maximum power output of 12.8bhp. There are super smart alloy wheels allotted to the bike wherein the front ones are given a disc brake as well. The suspension installed at its front is a telescopic fork with anti-friction DU bush, while at the rear is a nitrox monoshock with gas canister. These suspensions along with a mighty engine are rarely found in this segment of 125cc bikes. So, it’s difficult for the Company to replace this variant. Though from this model, specifications such as nitrox monoshock suspension at the rear, durable chassis and four valves single cylinder engine can be seen in the upcoming variants. Bajaj, to cover a big market share with these variants, has kept four variants in the price range of Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 50,000 and other two variants in the price range of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000. The exact price of the Bajaj Discover as well as all the information of these models will be available with their launch. These variants are likely to come in the market in the month of June 2013, as per reports. The pictures of the Bajaj Discover are still not displayed anywhere. 

Hero Splendor and Bajaj Discover Which is Better

It seems like the war between Bajaj Discover and Hero Splendor is like a never ending process as the most popular bike Splendor has regained the tag of highest selling bike in India by overtaking the sales of Discover. It was confirmed by the Mr. Anil Dua senior vice president sales and marketing at Hero Moto Corp limited and stated that the first 15 days sales in October have met their monthly targets. This proves that the bike is still a hot favorite for Indian bikers. When we just take a look at the first seven months sales of Splendor in fiscal year 2012-2013, it has achieved the margin of 3.41 million sales which is more than 50% compared to other 100cc bikes in India.  When it comes to the Bajaj Discover, it gained the upper hand in the market by achieving the highest number of sales in the month of September. However, the first seven months of this fiscal year reveals that Splendor is still the leader of the market.
