Honda is Japan based motorcycle which is operating in India since year 2000. Honda's first two wheeler in India was Honda Activa scooter which was huge success in India. Honda manufactures daily commuting light motorcycles to super bikes. Honda bikes are known for their power and styling. Honda's one of top selling product is CBR series of bikes. Honda CBR 150R and CBR 250R are manufactured and sold in India, these bikes are exported to other countries as well. Honda aims to be the market leader in India and have set goal of producing 1 million units of two wheelers by year 2020. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is planning to ramp up production by expanding its workforce by 4000 at production facility in state of Karnataka. Honda has planned launch of many new products in Indian market at lower costs by increasing levels of localization.
New launch from Honda will be CBR500, Honda CBR500 will be combo of both commuter and sports bikes. Honda CBR500 features a 470 cc, twin cylinder, fuel injected, liquid cooled engine which is mated to a six – speed manual gear box with 1 down and 5 up configuration. This 470 cc motor of CBR 500 will produce maximum power of 47 bhp and maximum torque of 40 Nm. CBR 500 can achieve top speed of 169 km / hr, this bike will be based on tubular frame which is similar to Honda CBR 250. CBR 500 sports wheels of 17 inch with 120 / 70 tyre at front and 160 / 60 tyre at rear which provide excellent road grip.
Braking will be performed by single front and rear discs. CBR 500 will have suspension of telescopic fork type at front. This bike will fill the gap left between CBR 250R and CBR 600R. Honda CBR500 can be used for commuting purposes in city limits and can also be revved hard on open roads. Honda CBR500 pictures reveal about its sporty looks and bike looks quite good. Honda CBR500 price has not been revealed yet but it is expected to be around Rs. 3.75 lakhs in India. This bike will be manufactured in Thailand and it may come to India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) and will be assembled in India. CBR 500 is a fully faired bike and Honda also plans to launch naked version of this bike called as CB 500. There is no official information about launch of CBR 500 but speculation is it will launch by mid 2013 in India. I recently shared that Hero maestro is a good scooter for females.
