Honda and Bajaj are one of the well known brands in Indian two wheeler industry, both these companies are one of the oldest two wheeler manufacturing companies in India. The Japanese bike maker partnered with Hero and manufactured bikes under the brand name of Hero Honda. Hero and Honda have manufactured best fuel efficient bikes in India. The partnership lasted over two decades and these two companies have split. Now both these companies are manufacturing their own variants under different names. Honda has proven its excellence in non geared scooter segment with its Honda Activa and is making a significant growth in bike industry by launching new Honda bikes, like Honda DreamYuga. On the contrary Hero MotoCorp [Previously known as Hero], is well established brand in bike segment and is slowly making its presence felt in non gear segment scooters. Though both these companies have split, Honda will be still providing its technical support to Hero MotoCorp upto two years as per the agreement.
On the other hand Bajaj Auto is known for its high end bikes, Bajaj has premium bikes in their lineage in Pulsar series. It’s not that Bajaj manufactures only high or premium Bajaj bikes, but this veteran company also has entry level commuter vehicles in Discovery series. Recently Bajaj has launched a new variant in Bajaj Discover 4G in its Discover series. Not only that but this two wheeler giant has also launched its most awaited bike of the year Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS in the premium segment. This new variant is fitted with 200 cc engine and has the reputation of generating high levels of BHP and Torque. According to Bajaj officials, this new premium variant will be a distinctive breed as it’s a perfect blend of style, power and performance.
Hero MotoCorp to Be Honda Free by 2014. If we look at Indian two wheeler market, Hero MotoCorp is leading the race and which is closely followed by Honda in the second place at the moment and on third place is Bajaj. Honda has recently gained the second position from Bajaj Auto, both these companies are striving hard for retaining the second position in the Indian two wheeler market. If we look at the pattern, both these companies have been swapping their positions on regular basis if we take a look at March 2012 sales report of these two companies, we find that it was Honda who was leading the way and acquired second place and similarly in April Bajaj Auto reclaimed the second position from Honda and in May 2012 it was Honda again. Though the battle is on for the second position with the new launches from both the companies we have to see whether any of these two companies can hold the second position for a long period of time. I shared that TVS Apache Series has Four Variants.
