BMW Motorrad to bring BMW F650 GS at a price tag of Rs. 9.9 lakh

BMW Motorrad is one of the top two wheeler manufacturers in the world, BMW India has recently announced that their new bike BMW F650 GS will be launched on Indian soil some time later this year. BMW F650 GS is an off touring motor cycle, and BMW F650 GS price in India would be around Rs.9.99 Lakh [ex – showroom Delhi], which could vary from state to state. According to some news inputs, one of the main reasons for such a high cost is due to the government policies, which levy high taxes as part of import duty. It is said that the government charges 75% of tax as part of import duty on cars and motorcycles imported via completely built unit [CBU] mechanism.

BMW want to make its presence felt in India as there is a growing scope for superbikes in India. The German two wheeler manufacturer can take the alternate ways like bringing in CKD kits and assemble them in India, which would be much better as the price of the BMW bike will also come down than importing this off roader beast as a completely built unit and this would increase the sales of BMW F650 in India. If we take look at the technical specifications of BMW F650 GS, this off road beast is fitted with 800 cc parallel twin four stroke engine, which capable of producing 71 BHP of top power and 76 NM of torque when at its peak. This powerful engine is fitted with six speed manual gear box, which transfers torque to rear wheel via chain drive. The engine fitted to this off roader beast is a liquid cooled engine and fuel injected type.

BMW F650 GS on the front is fitted with 17 inch wheel and on the rear with 19 inch wheel. BMW Motorrad group has always given safety a high priority, and they have included all safety features in this machine. This super bike includes disc brakes both on the front wheel as well as on the back wheel. They have included ABS in to this off roader which aims mainly at the safety of the hard core bike enthusiast. BMW F650 GS is fitted with telescopic suspension in the front and adjustable mono shock suspension on the rear end which will give the rider of the bike better control over this beast off roader. Along with BMW India the Indian bikers are also waiting in anticipation to see how the superbike fares on the road. Would this bike be a rider's delight or be completely rejected from the Indian roads, is a question only time would tell. Till then all we can do is wait and watch. I recently shared that KTM Duke 200 vs Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS and BMW S 1000RR specifications.
